TLDR Rosehip Seed Oil may help hair grow by activating important growth pathways and increasing hair follicle size in mice.
The study investigated the hair growth-promoting effects of Rosehip Seed Oil (RHSO) on C57BL/6 mice over 21 days. The results showed that RHSO stimulated hair growth by inducing the early transition of hair follicles from the resting phase to the growth phase. This was linked to the activation of key signaling pathways, specifically the Wnt/β-catenin and Sonic hedgehog (Shh) pathways, which are crucial for hair follicle development. Additionally, RHSO elevated the level of Insulin-like Growth Factor 1 (IGF-1) in the skin, further contributing to hair growth. Histological analysis revealed significant increases in hair follicle density, hair bulb size, and skin thickness. These findings suggest that RHSO could potentially be used to promote hair growth and prevent or treat hair loss.
