TLDR Sonic hedgehog proteins may help grow hair.
The study by Yu et al. investigated the effects of recombinant human sonic hedgehog (Shh) proteins on hair growth. They successfully overexpressed and purified Shh proteins, which were shown to activate Shh signaling pathways and induce hair growth-related gene expression in human dermal papilla cells. Additionally, the application of Shh proteins to the skin of mice increased hair density and length. The results suggest that Shh proteins have the potential to be used as a treatment for promoting hair growth. However, the document did not provide the number of mice or cells used in the experiments, which is important for assessing the strength of the study.
