The study investigated the role of the estradiol-ANGPT2 axis in female pattern hair loss (FPHL) using a mouse model. The researchers found that estradiol (E2) increased the expression of ANGPT2-related genes in human dermal papilla cells (DPCs), and that ovariectomized mice with FPHL had decreased ANGPT2 expression. Treatment with E2 or ANGPT2 was found to promote hair growth in the mouse model. The study suggests that modulating the estradiol-ANGPT2 axis may be a potential therapeutic approach for FPHL.
