TLDR PRP is promising for skin, hair, and wound treatments but needs standardized methods and more research.
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy in aesthetic dermatology shows promise for facial rejuvenation, scar treatment, hair restoration, and overall skin quality improvement. The review included 13 studies, highlighting PRP's potential to enhance skin texture, reduce wrinkles, improve skin elasticity, and increase hair density. However, the evidence remains inconsistent due to variations in PRP preparation and application methods. Safety concerns are generally minor but underscore the need for standardized protocols. The review calls for more rigorous studies to establish optimal treatment regimens and better understand PRP's mechanisms, aiming to develop evidence-based guidelines for its use in aesthetic dermatology.
