TLDR Certain genes and X chromosome patterns may significantly contribute to the development of hair loss.
The study conducted 12 years ago explored the connection between the polymorphism of the androgen receptor gene and non-random X chromosome inactivation in the onset of androgenic alopecia. The researchers discovered a link between the polymorphism of the androgen receptor gene, particularly the CAG repeat length in exon 1, and androgen-dependent diseases such as alopecia. This indicates that genetic factors and X chromosome inactivation patterns could have a substantial role in the development of androgenic alopecia.
