TLDR Finasteride works better for baldness in people with shorter gene repeats.
This study analyzed the effectiveness of finasteride on male pattern baldness (MPB) patients with different androgen receptor (AR) gene polymorphism. The study found that the smaller the repeat number of the triplet repeats (CAG+ GGC) in the AR gene, the higher the improvement with finasteride. Patients with shorter repeat regions in the AR gene responded better to the drug than those with longer repeat regions, although the former patients tended to reveal severe initial symptoms. The determination of such polymorphism is thought to be useful in the drug choice for MPB patients.

Hair loss is linked to cellular physiology and the IGF-1 to TGF-B1 ratio, not just androgen sensitivity. The theory lacks evidence, while finasteride and minoxidil are effective treatments.

Scalp tension from the occipitalis muscle is theorized to contribute to hair loss, but most believe DHT and genetics are the main causes. Treatments like finasteride and minoxidil are considered more effective than addressing scalp tension.

Justin Trudeau's full head of hair at 53 is humorously attributed to unpredictable genetics and possible use of finasteride. The conversation jokes about a resemblance to Fidel Castro, suggesting genetic luck or treatment use.

Addressing hair loss by focusing on posture, blood flow, and craniofacial development. Methods include improving posture, cardiovascular activity, scalp massages, healthy diet, meditation, using minoxidil, and addressing craniofacial issues.
