TLDR Rabbits with high wool production have more hair follicles, influenced by specific long noncoding RNAs.
This study investigated hair follicle density in Wan strain Angora rabbits with varying wool production levels through histological analysis and RNA sequencing. It found that rabbits with high wool production (HWP) had higher hair follicle density. The study identified 50 differentially expressed long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) and 38 genes between high and low wool production groups. Gene ontology analysis highlighted significant enrichment in lipid metabolism and transport processes. Five lncRNAs were identified as potential regulators of hair follicle density and development, with three being validated by q-PCR. The findings provided insights into the molecular mechanisms regulating hair follicle density, particularly the role of lncRNAs.

A 26-year-old man from France started experiencing hair loss in September 2020 and began using finasteride in June 2021, reporting some improvement after three months without side effects. He plans to continue finasteride for a year before considering additional treatments like minoxidil or dermarolling.

Hair follicles usually go dormant rather than die, and treatments like finasteride, minoxidil, and hormone therapy can sometimes reactivate them, though results vary. Complete regrowth is rare, especially in long-term bald areas, but some individuals see significant improvement with these treatments.

Low-level laser therapy (LLLT) is debated for hair regrowth, with some users suggesting it should be combined with treatments like minoxidil and finasteride for effectiveness. Many users express skepticism about LLLT's efficacy and cost, emphasizing the need for the correct wavelength and quality devices.

User Topher1999 achieved hair regrowth using Dutasteride 3 times a week and microneedling with Dr. Pen Ultima A6 every 2 weeks for 9 months. They believe microneedling is the main reason for hairline gains.
