TLDR 2-deoxy-D-ribose gel may help regrow hair in cases of hair loss.
The study investigated the effects of 2-deoxy-D-ribose (2dDR) on hair regrowth in a testosterone-induced androgenic alopecia (AGA) mouse model using C57BL/6 mice. Mice treated with 2dDR gel showed significant hair follicle morphogenesis, increased hair follicle density, and enhanced blood vessel formation over 20 days, with results comparable to those of minoxidil. The combination of 2dDR and minoxidil did not show additional benefits. The study concludes that 2dDR gel has potential as a treatment for AGA and other hair loss conditions, though the exact mechanism of 2dDR's activity remains to be established.
