TLDR TS-SCLF from fermented Schisandra chinensis may promote hair growth and improve hair quality.
The research examined the hair growth effects of TS-SCLF, a compound derived from Schisandra chinensis fermented with Lactobacillus plantarum. The compound was identified as gomisin N, a lignan-based compound. The study involved both in vitro experiments on human dermal papilla cells and a clinical trial with 58 participants aged 19-54. The in vitro tests showed that the extract promoted cell proliferation and increased the secretion of various growth factors. The clinical trial, which used a shampoo containing TS-SCLF for 24 weeks, demonstrated improvements in hair loss, thickness, quality, and quantity. The study concluded that TS-SCLF has potential as a hair growth-promoting agent.
