TLDR A specific RNA can help hair growth in baldness by boosting stem cell activity.
The study reveals that exosome-derived long non-coding RNA AC010789.1, modified by FTO and hnRNPA2B1, enhances hair follicle stem cell (HFSC) growth by activating the S100A8/Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway, offering a potential therapeutic strategy for androgenetic alopecia (AGA). AC010789.1 is downregulated in AGA hair follicles but upregulated in HFSCs, promoting their proliferation. The research, involving 10 cases of AGA hair follicle tissue specimens, demonstrates that exosome-loaded AC010789.1 accelerates HFSC proliferation and hair follicle restoration in mice, highlighting the role of m6A RNA methylation in this process.
