TLDR Injectable platelet-rich fibrin with microneedling is safe and effective for male hair loss but less supported than other treatments.
Studies indicate that injectable platelet-rich fibrin (iPRF) combined with microneedling (MN) is a safe and effective treatment for male androgenetic alopecia (AGA), but there is a lack of comparative studies against other treatments. Current evidence suggests that platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is the preferred blood preparation, and MN combined with minoxidil (MX) is more supported than iPRF with MN alone. Additionally, no validated patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) exist specifically for male AGA, which complicates treatment comparison and evidence gathering.
