TLDR Not enough evidence to support using platelet rich plasma for hair loss treatment.
This systematic review examines the efficacy and safety of platelet rich plasma (PRP) procedures for androgenetic alopecia. The authors reviewed multiple published peer-reviewed studies and concluded that there is not enough evidence for the use of PRP procedures in the treatment of androgenetic alopecia. The authors hope that this review will help practitioners and patients to make better-informed treatment decisions. The review found only two studies that met the criteria for a large enough study population to yield statistical significance, and neither study provided enough evidence to support the use of PRP in the treatment of androgenetic alopecia. The authors suggest that clinicians should be skeptical of PRP treatment for this indication.
