TLDR Coffee bean residue extract helps hair growth by activating cell processes.
The study found that coffee bean residue extract (ECBR) significantly promotes hair growth in human hair follicle dermal papilla cells (HFDPCs) by enhancing cell viability, ATP production, and the expression of autophagy-related genes (ATG2A, ATG5, ATG12, ATG14, ATG16L1) and VEGFA. Unlike minoxidil, which works through the β-catenin/Wnt pathway, ECBR activates autophagy pathways, suggesting its potential as a novel therapeutic agent for hair loss.
