A topical booster enhancing follicular sulfotransferase was reported in lab work to convert minoxidil non-responders into responders. Topical adipose stem cell extract increased hair count versus vehicle in a randomized trial. Microneedling combined with 5% minoxidil outperformed either treatment alone in Chinese men. A meta-analysis of PRP found increased hair density and thickness in pattern hair loss. Cow placenta extract lotion raised hair counts as much as minoxidil 2% in women with pattern hair loss. Baseline plasma zinc predicted response to topical minoxidil in men. In rats, a cyclodextrin-minoxidil gel reduced the cardiac hypertrophy and hypotension caused by high-dose minoxidil solution, though human relevance is unproven.
