Voltammetric Reduction of Finasteride at Mercury Electrode and Its Determination in Tablets

    TLDR New, cheaper method measures finasteride in tablets accurately and quickly.
    The study proposes a novel method for determining the concentration of finasteride in tablets using differential pulse voltammetry (DPP) in an ethanol/0.0625 mol L-¹ H₂SO4 (30/70) solution medium. The method is less expensive and less time-consuming than the standard HPLC method, and does not require treatment of the sample. The DPP-developed method was adequate for the finasteride determination in pharmaceutical forms as that exhibited an adequate accuracy, reproducibility and selectivity.
