TLDR A method was developed to test the breakdown of Finasteride capsules, showing it can tell the difference between different brands and highlighting the need for standard tests and ingredient consistency.
In 2012, a study optimized a dissolution method for Finasteride (FNS) capsules, using water as the dissolution medium and a basket stirrer at 100 rpm. The method was validated using high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) at 210 nm, with all validation parameters meeting the acceptance criteria. The method was applied to three commercial products, demonstrating its ability to differentiate between them. The study concluded the importance of an official dissolution test for FNS capsules and the need for standardization of excipients in commercial products.
