TLDR PRP with finasteride is better for hair regrowth than minoxidil with finasteride.
This study compared the efficacy of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and topical minoxidil (5%) when used alongside oral finasteride for treating androgenic alopecia. Conducted from March to August 2023, it involved 80 patients aged 18 to 65, divided into two groups: Group A received monthly PRP injections and daily oral finasteride, while Group B used topical minoxidil twice daily and daily oral finasteride. Results showed that Group A had a significantly higher mean hair density (101.6 ± 11.2 hair/cm²) compared to Group B (87.0 ± 9.0 hair/cm², p < 0.001). The study concluded that PRP combined with oral finasteride is more effective in improving hair regrowth, density, and patient satisfaction than the combination of topical minoxidil and oral finasteride.
