TLDR PRP therapy with minoxidil is more effective for hair growth than PRP alone.
The study conducted at Saveetha Dental College and Hospital involved 40 participants with androgenetic alopecia, divided into two groups. One group received platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy alone, while the other received PRP therapy combined with topical minoxidil. The results showed that the group receiving PRP with minoxidil had a significantly higher mean hair shaft diameter and hair quantity at the two and three-month postoperative periods compared to the PRP-only group. The study concluded that PRP therapy combined with topical minoxidil is a better treatment option for improving both hair quality and quantity compared to PRP therapy alone. The study acknowledges a short follow-up period as a limitation and recommends further studies with a larger sample size and longer follow-up period for more accurate results.
