TLDR The trichometer is a quick and reliable tool for measuring hair quantity.
The study evaluated Cohen's cross-section trichometer for measuring hair quantity in clinical practice. The hair mass index (HMI) was used to assess the reproducibility of the device. Intraobserver reproducibility showed a mean difference of 0.2 with a correlation coefficient (r) of 0.99, while interobserver reproducibility had a mean difference of -0.4 with an r of 0.98. With relocation, the mean difference was -1.0 and r was 0.97. Measurements took 5-10 minutes per area. The results indicated that the trichometer was simple to use and provided highly reproducible data, making it a promising tool for clinical and research applications in measuring hair quantity.
