TLDR Prostaglandins may contribute to male hair loss; targeting them could help treat it.
Prostaglandins, specifically PGD2 and PGE2, may play a role in the development of androgenetic alopecia (AGA) in males, as they were found to be higher in balding areas of male participants with AGA but not in female participants with AGA. Targeting prostaglandin receptors could be a potential treatment for AGA. Further research is needed to fully understand the role of prostaglandins in hair loss and develop effective treatments.
