TLDR MSC exosome therapy improved hair quality in patients with acquired trichorrhexis nodosa.
This case series investigates mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) exosome therapy for acquired trichorrhexis nodosa (ATN) in three patients aged 22 to 38, who experienced hair breakage and nodular alterations. Each patient underwent at least four exosome treatments, leading to significant improvements in hair quality, such as increased hair density, reduced breakage, and partial restoration of hair cuticle layers. The study also suggests a potential link between anemia and ATN, as all patients had mild to moderate anemia. The findings indicate that MSC exosome therapy could be a promising treatment for ATN, though further research is necessary to understand the underlying mechanisms.
