TLDR People with hair loss have worse cholesterol levels, possibly linking hair loss to heart problems.
This meta-analysis examined the lipid profiles of patients with androgenetic alopecia (AGA) compared to those without AGA. The study analyzed data from multiple observational studies and found that patients with AGA had higher levels of total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, and triglycerides, and lower levels of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol compared to individuals with normal hair. The study suggests that dyslipidemia may be associated with AGA and could partly explain the association between AGA and cardiovascular diseases. However, further research is needed to confirm these findings.
