TLDR Severe hair loss links to metabolic issues in older men with psoriasis.
This study found that severe androgenetic alopecia (AGA) is associated with metabolic syndrome (MetS) in male psoriatic patients, particularly in those over 59 years old. Severe AGA was also associated with a familial history of cardiovascular events. The study suggests that psoriatic patients with severe AGA should be closely monitored for MetS and its components. Larger studies are needed to confirm this association and to investigate the correlation between early onset of AGA and future development of MetS in psoriatic patients.
