TLDR LEF-1 boosts cell growth in goat hair follicles, aiding cashmere production.
The study investigated the role of LEF-1 in the proliferation of dermal papilla cells (DPCs) in Arbas White Cashmere goats, which are crucial for hair follicle growth and cashmere production. By manipulating LEF-1 expression, researchers observed significant changes in the expression of β-catenin, C-myc, and cyclin D1, key components of the Wnt signaling pathway. Overexpression of LEF-1 led to increased expression of these proteins and enhanced DPC proliferation, while LEF-1 interference resulted in decreased expression and reduced proliferation. The findings suggested that LEF-1 played a regulatory role in DPC proliferation through Wnt signaling, providing insights for improving cashmere yield.
