TLDR The effectiveness of APRP for hair loss is unclear due to limited data.
The study investigated the effects of autologous platelet-rich plasma (APRP) on follicular units in 20 subjects with androgenic alopecia, with 17 receiving APRP and 3 receiving a placebo. APRP or placebo was administered intradermally twice a week for three weeks. The results showed no significant differences in the number, thickness, or anagen/catagen ratio of hair follicles before and after APRP application, nor between the APRP and placebo groups. The study concluded that due to the small sample size and short duration, it was not possible to definitively determine the effectiveness of APRP as a treatment for androgenic alopecia, highlighting the need for long-term studies with more participants.
