TLDR CBD may help restore hair growth-related protein levels in alopecia caused by hormones or other factors.
The research investigated the impact of Cannabidiol (CBD) on β-catenin expression, a protein crucial for hair growth, in alopecia models. The study found that β-catenin expression, which is often decreased in alopecia, was restored with CBD treatment in dermal papilla cells treated with testosterone and PMA. The research suggests that CBD could potentially modulate alopecia caused by hormonal or excess signaling pathway, indicating a potential application for alopecia treatment. However, it was also noted that CBD treatment slightly inhibited cell growth after a 3-day incubation.
