TLDR Catechins-rich tea extract may help reduce hair loss and promote hair growth.
This study investigates the potential of catechins-rich extract from Assam tea in mitigating hair loss, particularly in androgenic alopecia models. The extract, standardized at 0.1–10 µg/mL, demonstrated significant antioxidant activity, enhanced cellular proliferation, and reduced inflammation in human follicle dermal papilla cells. It was more effective than its active component, EGCG, and outperformed valproic acid in elongating hair shafts in an ex vivo mouse model. These findings suggest that catechins-rich tea extract and EGCG are promising natural alternatives for promoting hair growth and mitigating hair loss, offering a new generation of anti-alopecia agents.

The conversation discusses starting Minoxidil for hair loss and suggests also using finasteride to prevent further balding. Minoxidil is expected to thicken current hair, but won't stop hair follicles from dying.

This conversation is about a user's experience with treatments for androgenic alopecia, including finasteride, dutasteride, RU, minoxidil, progesterone, melatonin, LLLT, oral minoxidil, and Pyrilutamide. They have tried many treatments over the course of two years without seeing much success, and they are considering getting a hair system as a last resort.
