Topical cetirizine 1% in men was reported to give more regrowth than placebo. PRP added to medical therapy increased hair density and diameter. PRP with microneedling gave good results in most minoxidil-and-finasteride nonresponders, and a dermatology consensus on PRP recommended double-spin preparation over three to five sessions. A systematic review of PRP found improved growth in most patients, best combined with minoxidil, with injection pain the main side effect. Hair transplant practice guidelines set minimum standards for case selection, technique and protocols. Three PRP sessions increased hair thickness and reduced shedding, with possibly greater benefit in women. A review of low-level light therapy found it stimulates growth, but evidence quality was low. A systematic review on smoking found more hair loss and premature graying than in nonsmokers. In alopecia areata, intralesional Candida antigen matched triamcinolone for regrowth with less pain, while topical latanoprost gave less regrowth than betamethasone.
