Weekly microneedling with minoxidil was found to regrow far more hair than minoxidil alone. Adenosine 0.75% solution matched minoxidil 5% for recovery but showed higher patient satisfaction. Finasteride 5 mg in postmenopausal women was reported to improve most patients. Serum ferritin and vitamin D were lower in women with hair loss than controls, and premenopausal women with pattern hair loss showed lower ferritin, both suggesting screening. Beard and body donor hair survived transplantation but kept its original colour, curl and calibre. A vertex baldness meta-analysis linked vertex, not frontal, baldness to coronary heart disease, an association rather than causation. Hair-loss patients' serum zinc was found lower than controls, especially in alopecia areata and telogen effluvium.
