    Lithocholic acid (LCA) is a secondary bile acid produced in the intestines by bacterial action on primary bile acids. It plays a role in the digestion and absorption of fats and fat-soluble vitamins, but high levels of LCA can be toxic to liver cells and have been linked to certain diseases, including liver cancer.
