TLDR Udenafil may help hair grow by activating certain stem cells.
In 2019, researchers found that Udenafil, a PDE5 inhibitor, could potentially enhance hair growth by stimulating adipose-derived stem cells (ASCs). The study demonstrated that Udenafil increased ASC proliferation, migration, and the secretion of growth factors IL-4 and IL12B, which were found to promote hair growth. When Udenafil-treated ASCs were injected into mice, there was a significant increase in hair growth compared to untreated ASCs. The study concluded that Udenafil could potentially be used as a therapeutic agent for hair loss treatment.
