TLDR Taxifolin from Rhododendron mucronulatum may help prevent hair loss and promote hair growth.
The study investigated the effects of taxifolin, extracted from Rhododendron mucronulatum, on hair growth and hair loss prevention. The research found that taxifolin has strong anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activities, which can regulate the apoptosis of dermal papilla cells, closely related to hair loss. It also showed a dose-dependent inhibitory effect on Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) production, a hormone associated with hair loss, and increased the expression of IGF-1, a key factor in hair growth. Furthermore, taxifolin reduced the expression of TGF-β1, an inhibitor of hair growth. These results suggest that taxifolin could potentially be used in the development of hair loss treatments with no side effects.
