The study evaluated YangHyulEum Gami-Bang (YHEG) extract's effects on hair growth, finding it did not inhibit 5α-reductase type II but increased DNA synthesis in dermal papilla cells by 68% at 0.1% concentration. YHEG promoted hair growth factors IGF-1 and KGF-1, inhibited hair loss factors TGFβ-1 and BMP-2, and demonstrated anti-inflammatory properties by inhibiting nitric oxide production. Using 27 female C57BL/6 mice, the study observed noticeable hair growth, suggesting YHEG's potential as a treatment for hair loss.
