TLDR PRP speeds up hair growth and increases hair follicle density in mice.
The study investigated the effects of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) on dermal papilla cells (DPCs) and hair follicle regeneration in mice. PRP was prepared and applied to DPCs, and its proliferative effect was measured using MTT assay. The study found that activated PRP significantly increased the proliferation and aggregative growth of DPCs. In the reconstituted skin area, 10% PRP resulted in a higher yield of hair follicles (344 +/- 27) compared to 0% PRP (288 +/- 35), with a 19.4% increase in hair follicle density. Additionally, 10% PRP shortened the time of hair formation to 18 +/- 1 days compared to 20 +/- 1 days with 0% PRP. The study concluded that PRP had a considerable effect on both the time of hair formation and the yield of hair follicle reconstitution.
