TLDR Pili torti is a rare condition where hair is twisted and breaks easily, often linked to genetic disorders or other health issues.
Pili torti is a rare hair shaft disorder where the hair is flattened and twisted, leading to increased fragility. It can be inherited, either alone or as part of genetic syndromes like Menkes disease and Björnstad syndrome, or acquired, associated with conditions such as alopecia, neoplastic and systemic diseases, and can be induced by certain drugs. Diagnosis is made through trichoscopic or microscopic examination, and it's important to investigate for underlying conditions when pili torti is identified.
