The review discusses advancements in biological treatments for alopecia areata, emphasizing the psychosocial impact and the importance of addressing mental health. It highlights the promising results of JAK inhibitors like baricitinib and ritlecitinib in clinical trials. Deuruxolitinib, another JAK inhibitor, has shown efficacy and safety in phase 3 trials (THRIVE-AA1 and THRIVE-AA2) with a large number of participants, supported by a meta-analysis of 1,372 patients. Other treatments, such as bempikibart (ADX-914) and ALD-102, are under investigation. The review calls for continued research to develop targeted therapies for better patient outcomes.
