TLDR Combining laser therapy with minoxidil improves hair growth and satisfaction without extra side effects.
This systematic review and meta-analysis assessed the effectiveness and safety of combining low-level laser therapy (LLLT) with topical minoxidil versus using topical minoxidil alone for androgenetic alopecia (AGA). Analyzing 7 randomized controlled trials, the study found that the combination therapy significantly improved hair density and mean hair diameter compared to minoxidil alone. Patient satisfaction was also higher with the combination treatment. Notably, there was no difference in adverse events between the two groups, indicating that the combination therapy is more effective while maintaining a similar safety profile to minoxidil monotherapy.
