Hair Loss in Older Women: Supplement to Increase Scalp Hair Thickness and Reduce Hair Loss

F Mastropietro, N Corasaniti, Marco Piacentini, Leonardo Celleno
TLDR The supplement reduces hair loss and increases hair thickness in older women.
The study investigated the effects of a dietary supplement containing fermented soy, ornithine, arginine, and Tricovel® Tricoage45+ with Bioequolo on hair loss in menopausal women over 45. Conducted as a double-blind, placebo-controlled trial, it involved healthy adult females experiencing hair loss and less than 80% of their hair in the anagen phase. Results showed that the supplement significantly reduced hair loss after 8 weeks, as evidenced by wash and hair pull tests. Additionally, there was a significant increase in the conversion of vellus hair to terminal hair after 12 weeks. Self-evaluations by participants supported these findings, indicating the supplement's effectiveness in decreasing hair loss and promoting hair growth in the target demographic.
