TLDR Researchers found a good way to isolate hair follicle stem cells from newborn goats for further study.
Researchers described two methods for isolating hair follicle stem cells (HFSCs) from newborn Yangtze River Delta White Goats. They found a suitable method and noted differences in cell viability and HFSC marker protein expression between the methods. CD49f-positive HFSCs were sorted using fluorescence activated flow cytometry. These sorted HFSCs could be used in in vivo grafting models and as an in vitro model to study multipotency, quiescence, and activation.

Microneedling with needle lengths of 1.5mm to 2.5mm to stimulate hair follicle stem cells for potential hair growth. Using needles longer than 2.5mm is not recommended due to risk of puncturing veins in the scalp. A dermastamp is suggested over a roller.

The conversation discusses GT20029, a drug in Phase II trials that targets androgen receptors with minimal systemic effects, and TDM-105795, a growth stimulant with a different mechanism than minoxidil that may revive papilla stem cells. Both are potential new treatments for hair loss.
