TLDR Cow placenta extract may help hair grow by increasing a growth factor but is less effective than minoxidil.
The study concluded that cow placenta extract (CPE) promoted hair growth in mice by enhancing the expression of insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1), leading to increased cell proliferation, larger hair follicles, and longer hair. Although CPE was less effective than minoxidil, it still showed significant potential as a treatment for hair loss. The study involved 27 mice and suggested further research to refine CPE and explore its mechanisms, including the role of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and stem cells.
