TLDR Glehnia littoralis and Andrographis paniculata extracts can significantly boost hair growth.
The study evaluated the effects of Glehnia littoralis and Andrographis paniculata extracts on hair growth in human follicle dermal papilla cells (HFDPC). Both extracts demonstrated significant antioxidant and nitrite scavenging activities, increased VEGF expression, and activated the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway, crucial for hair follicle development and regeneration. The combination of both extracts showed enhanced effects compared to individual treatments, with a mixture showing a 2-fold increase in VEGF mRNA expression after 6 hours and a 4.23-fold increase after 24 hours, surpassing the effects of minoxidil. These findings suggest that G. littoralis and A. paniculata could be effective natural treatments for alopecia and hair growth by mitigating oxidative stress and promoting key hair growth pathways.
