TLDR Rosa multiflora root extracts may help promote hair growth and have anti-aging benefits.
The study evaluated the antioxidant activity and effects on cell proliferation and growth factor expression of Rosa multiflora root extracts in human hair follicle dermal papilla cells (HFDPC). The extracts, particularly the methanol-sonication extract, showed high antioxidant activity with the highest DPPH radical scavenging (98.24%) and significant increases in IGF1 (135%) and PDGFB (126%) expression. No cytotoxicity was observed, and cell viability increased to 113.1% at concentrations up to 500 µg/mL. These findings suggested that Rosa multiflora root extracts could be valuable for developing hair growth-promoting and anti-aging cosmetic products.
