TLDR Finasteride affects SRD5A2 gene pattern, possibly causing lasting side effects.
This pilot study investigated the methylation pattern of the SRD5A2 gene in the cerebrospinal fluid of post-finasteride patients. The study found that the methylation pattern of the SRD5A2 gene was altered in post-finasteride patients compared to controls, suggesting that epigenetic modifications may play a role in the persistent adverse effects of finasteride. However, further studies with larger sample sizes are needed to confirm these findings.
