TLDR The 2940-nm Er: YAG laser combined with medication is a safe and better treatment for male hair loss than medication alone.
A retrospective study from July to December 2021 involving 192 male patients with androgenetic alopecia (AGA) examined the effectiveness and safety of the ablative fractional 2940-nm Er: YAG laser combined with medication therapy. The study found that the combination treatment was more effective than medication alone in improving Global Assessment scores, patient's global assessment, total and terminal hair counts, and diameters at week 24 (all P<0.05). No severe adverse events were reported in either group, suggesting that the combined therapy is a safe and superior treatment for male AGA.
