Low-dose oral minoxidil matched 5% topical minoxidil for improving pattern hair loss in a randomized trial. Saw palmetto oil, oral and topical reduced hair fall and raised density versus placebo. Topical ashwagandha serum reduced shedding and improved density against placebo. Estradiol replacement in postmenopausal women improved frontal hairline appearance and hair anchoring. Nonscalp donor hair for FUE supplied extra grafts when scalp donor hair ran out. FUE's rise to dominance showed graft survival on par with strip harvesting. Vitamin D in non-scarring alopecia was lower, with deficiency threefold more frequent. Hypochlorous acid spray after transplantation reduced erythema and itching with no tissue necrosis, though the trial lacked a randomized control group. Tofacitinib in alopecia areata achieved complete response in a third of patients.
