Weekly mesotherapy for female pattern hair loss was found to match 5% minoxidil and increase follicle numbers. Three monthly PRP injections increased hair follicle number and thickness in men, while a PRP meta-analysis found injections increase hair density, recommending three monthly sessions with maintenance. A finasteride safety review outlined conflicting evidence on side effects, including persistent post-finasteride syndrome, proposing predisposing factors. A 762-man finasteride survey found users reported no more sexual dysfunction than non-users, though the study was survey-based. Proteomic analysis of scalp biopsies found 13 proteins changed after laser therapy, suggesting it reverses follicle miniaturization.
