In 27 women with female pattern hair loss, stem-cell conditioned media increased hair density and thickness over 12 weeks. Trichoscopy features in 950 Chinese patients were found to correlate with disease severity, and women with androgenetic alopecia had higher insulin resistance than controls, independent of androgen levels. Scalp micropigmentation is a cosmetic tattoo that conceals alopecia and transplant scars with high patient satisfaction. In mice, human placental extract with minoxidil induced earlier anagen and more follicles, and forsythiaside-A in mice outperformed finasteride against DHT-induced hair cell death. A historical review recounts Hamilton's 1942 castration studies proving male balding needs both genetic predisposition and testosterone.

- The Androgenic Alopecia Protective Effects of Forsythiaside-A and the Molecular Regulation in a Mouse Model In mice and cultured cells, forsythiaside-A inhibited DHT-induced hair cell death more effectively than finasteride, increasing hair density 50%.
- Androgens, hair loss and eugenics: a tale of discovery and American social history A historical review recounts Hamilton's 1942 castration studies proving male balding needs both genetic predisposition and testosterone, and the eugenics context behind them.
- Potential synergistic effects of human placental extract and minoxidil on hair growth-promoting activity in C57BL/6J mice. In mice, human placental extract synergized with minoxidil to induce earlier anagen and more hair follicles via Wnt signaling.
- The association of androgenetic alopecia and insulin resistance is independent of hyperandrogenemia: A case-control study Women with androgenetic alopecia had higher insulin resistance than controls, independent of androgen levels, a case-control study found.

- Scalp micropigmentation: a concealer for hair and scalp deformities. A review presents scalp micropigmentation, a cosmetic tattoo that conceals alopecia and transplant scars with high patient satisfaction.
- LC‐MS/MS‐based method for long‐term steroid profiling in human scalp hair A validated LC-MS/MS method measures six steroids, including cortisol and testosterone, in scalp hair for long-term retrospective profiling.
