    GlossaryNKG2D

receptor on immune cells that detects stressed or abnormal cells

NKG2D is a receptor found on the surface of certain immune cells, such as natural killer (NK) cells and some T cells. It plays a crucial role in the body's defense system by recognizing and binding to stress-induced molecules on infected or cancerous cells, thereby triggering an immune response to destroy these harmful cells.
