TLDR WNT10B is important for body functions and linked to diseases like osteoporosis, obesity, and cancer.
WNT10B, a member of the WNT family, is crucial in regulating various physiological processes and is implicated in numerous diseases. Over the past decade, research has expanded to show WNT10B's involvement in tissues such as bone, adipocytes, skin, hair, muscle, placenta, and the immune system. Aberrant WNT10B signaling is linked to conditions like osteoporosis, obesity, and cancer. Recent studies have identified WNT10B polymorphisms associated with diverse phenotypes, including bone density and body size in animals. The regulation of WNT10B by microRNAs and long non-coding RNAs has been a focus, highlighting its therapeutic potential. Overall, the past 10 years have uncovered new roles for WNT10B in both physiology and disease.
