Study the Relationship Between Vitamin D and Some Biomarkers in Female Hair Loss Patients Compared to Normal Subjects
July 2025

TLDR Vitamin D deficiency and altered lipid metabolism may contribute to female hair loss.
This study investigated the relationship between vitamin D and biomarkers in 65 female patients with Female Pattern Hair Loss (FPHL) compared to 65 healthy controls. Results showed significantly lower serum levels of vitamin D and ferritin in FPHL patients, while dopamine levels were similar between groups. Additionally, FPHL patients had lower total cholesterol and triglyceride levels, with no significant differences in HDL, LDL, or VLDL levels. The study concludes that vitamin D deficiency and altered lipid metabolism may contribute to FPHL, suggesting the importance of monitoring these factors in affected women and indicating a need for further research into metabolic contributors to the condition.
